I have a question about a tattoo design?

well, i would like some kind of traditional irish/celtic tattoo. i am 100% irish and i want to commemorate that in some way. i have looked at some things but i really dont want a clover because that is too well known. I was thinking more along the lines of a triple spiral or maybe some uncomplicated knot??

p.s. no harps or claddas either
pps this is going on the top of my foot so it needs to be somewhat small

I think a knot would look nice - always liked them myself. I'm partial to the "trinity" one, but feel free to look around - a lot of them look really nice, and they are great for scaling down to small sizes.
